October 10, 2022 – Fake News vs. The Truth

Yes, I am using a Washington Post-ABC News poll, but only to demonstrate how to lie with statistics. This poll focuses on “single most important issue” to raise the issue—in this case abortion. Economy, abortion, and inflation are the top issues the Washington Post-ABC News listed, but they are NOT the top issues when you look at what is “Very important”. Also, this poll question would allow respondents to answer “one of the single most important issues” to all issues!
FAKE NEWS

THE TRUTH
Economy, Inflation, and Education and Schools top issue list for voters this fall
Using the criteria of “One of the single most important issues” and “Very important”, the top issues are:
Economy                                    85%
Inflation                                      78%
Education and Schools           77%
Crime                                         67%
Immigration                              63%
Abortion                                    62%
Climate change                        69%

This poll was intended to mislead people about the issues with an intent in raising the abortion issue to create a narrative against pro-life Republicans. The attacks are coming at our candidates from all sides, and we must not get sucked into their devious messaging. The issues are clearly kitchen table issues: your wallet, crisis in our schools, crime in our communities, and the correlated Illegal immigration, crime, and drugs.

We cannot allow this election to be hijacked by a single issue when Americans are trying to figure out how to put food on the table, educate their children, and protect their businesses and communities. It’s time to call out FAKE NEWS and educate our voters on how the media is using statistics to fool them.

I have knocked on a lot of doors this past week, and I like what I am hearing. Since July 1 we have knocked on approximately 13,000 doors in Pima County. We are talking with our voters, but we have many more voters waiting to hear from us.

THE REAL ANCHOR
Campaigns are like a relay race. You start the campaign with your announcement, some media and it feels fast. But just like in a relay you put your second-fastest runner out first, so you are not full speed yet. As the campaign moves along it feels like “steady as you go”, you don’t want to make any mistakes and like in a relay on the second leg you have your third-fastest runner, then your slowest runner is usually in the third leg (remembering that none of these runners are slow). Now here’s where it kicks in. In the last leg you put your fastest runner (the anchor). That’s where we are today.

You are the anchor for the next 29 days. You must move fast, walk doors, make phone calls, send texts, put up signs, write postcards. The voters are paying attention now. They need your advice. Who should they vote for, what about the propositions. We have answers for all of this—give them a golden ticket to take to the vote center with them. Be at the vote centers handing out golden tickets to those who haven’t decided yet!
