June 20, 2022 – Give me the good news first

Which one do you want first?
Anyone ever ask you that question, “What do you want first, the good news or the bad news?” At the macro level, the good news is the Pima County Republican Party is doing well, the bad news is that we are still a blue county and will have to keep working for several more years to change that. More good news is that Joe Biden and his administration are making our work easier.

Pima On the Debate Map
Arizona Debates hosted a Governor and U.S. Senate debate in Pima County on Saturday night. We had a great turnout and two great debates at the Omni Tucson. The Governor candidates present were Kari Lake, Matt Salmon, and Paola Tulliani-Zen. The U.S. Senate candidates were Blake Masters, Mick McGuire, and Justin Olson . Some good news from the debates is that we have WONDERFUL candidates from which to choose, and the enthusiasm of the crowd was fabulous. From the thunderous applause to the support from behind, Pima County pledged our support to the Governor and Senate candidates to win with them in November!

Meanwhile, back at Pima County Elections
The Elections Department says they are having trouble recruiting Republican poll workers for some vote centers. As I have said in previous journals, the Elections Department called poll workers and said that if they were not vaccinated, they could not be poll workers. Then the Board of Supervisors (BOS) lifted the requirement for election workers. But did they include intermittent workers? Is this an HR problem? Is it possible that the Elections Department did not go far enough and ensure that the #BANtheUNVACCINATED did not include the intermittent workers? That wasn’t the bad news. The real bad news is that the County Administrator, Elections Department and HR don’t know what the other one is doing! We only have 42 days until election day, let’s get this right!

The good news is that the Pima County Republican Party is moving forward and
1) hosting a train-the-trainer session today,
2) recruiting and training poll observers in never-before-seen numbers,
3) creating a sign up for poll observers to select their shifts
4) working with the RNC to provide legal training for poll observers in Pima County, and
5) holding Pima County accountable for a free and fair election

The Good and Bad News
Tyler Bowyer, the Arizona RNC Committeeman, tweeted out “Here are the factions of the @AZGOP:
Grassroots Conservatives: –Tea Party Seniors est 2010—Kelli Ward’s State Party—Trump Era America Firsters—Election Integrity Activists (Post Audit)
Establishment: –Ducey/Koch Network—McCain Alum—Consultants/Greater Phx Chamber”

The great news is that our numbers are growing in Pima County and across the state of Arizona. The bad news would be if we don’t get Republicans elected. Let me be clear on this, there is not one candidate running who has asked for the support of the Pima County Republican party that we have not supported. We have their literature at the HQ—signs, palm cards, bumper stickers—we have helped candidates across the state with their signatures and literature at the Pima County Fair, voter registrations, and within our precincts. Our Legislative Districts and clubs have worked tirelessly to have candidates speak at their meetings. We are hosting debates, keggers, movie events, trainings, and voter registrations.

Remember when you were in high school? Now there’s some good news/bad news! Some of us played sports, some of us were in plays/musicals, some of us played in band/orchestra, some of you (🤣) were in academic clubs, and some of us watched high school go by. But, on graduation day, we all graduated from the same high school. Next time you are sitting in an LD meeting or club meeting, and you don’t agree with the candidate, you have two choices: 1) DON’T VOTE FOR THEM IN THE PRIMARY, and 2) WORK HARDER FOR YOUR CANDIDATE.

However, when election day (think graduation day) comes, and we are all together working (walking down the aisle) toward winning elections, remember what is important—holding the Chairman seats on the committees in the Legislature/House of Representatives/Senate. I get it that we don’t all agree, but not one of us wants to lose this country.

Join me. Fight first for America.
