Making Sure We Are Ready
We are two weeks away from Election Day (November 8) and the Pima County Republican Party and the Pima County Department of Elections continue to staff our Vote Centers with Poll Workers/Elections Aides (Pima County Government) and Observers (Pima County Republican Party). The Pima County Republican Party sent a list of approximately 800 vetted and trained Poll Workers/Election Aides to Constance Hargrove, Director of Elections on August 10 for her to appoint to Elections Boards and Vote Centers. She and her staff have been working on that list and other names we have sent her to staff the November 8 Vote Centers. Many of you submitted an interest to work and did not hear from them for quite some time; they have been working on getting people scheduled all over the county. As of Friday:

  • There will be a total of 1,561 poll workers at 129 Vote Centers
  • We still need 8 Republicans for Ajo, Sells, and Three Points
  • The vote centers are at 99.3% capacity
  • We currently have 523 R and 543 D for Inspectors, Marshals, and Judges
  • We have 204 D, 138 R, and 153 Other for Clerks and Equipment Specialists

The Pima County Republican Party is responsible for staffing the Observer positions in the Vote Centers. We need to have 516 four-hour shifts filled within the 129 Vote Centers. Currently,

  • 60% of the 516 Vote Center Observer shifts are filled; we need 214 more and are in the process of contacting people. Please call Aaron at 520-651-2308 if you have not received a call and want to be scheduled.
  • We currently have Republicans in the Recorder’s office and Elections Dept Offices working and observing on election boards

We will be doing a Hand Count on the second Saturday following the election. We will need 25 Republicans to participate in the hand count. Please contact Bobbie Jo at 520-321-1492 if you are interested in participating.
We have asked the Department of Elections for the numbers of Poll Workers/Election Aides (Republican) used in 2020 and we will provide the number of Observers that were scheduled by the Pima County Republican Party in 2020 in the coming weeks for comparison.

We Will Celebrate and Then Activate
As I mentioned at the Lincoln Day Dinner, we will celebrate on November 8 at St Philip’s Plaza for our winning candidates and then we are back to work on November 9.

We have Tucson City elections in 2023 and we need to focus on Ward-Only Voting, Mayor of Tucson, Council Members representing Ward 1, Ward 2, and Ward 4.

On November 5, 2024, we will have our County elections for Board of Supervisors (all 5), Sheriff, County Attorney, County Assessor, County Recorder, County Treasurer, Superintendent of Instruction, staggered districts of the JTED Board, Pima Community College Board, and Justices of the Peace and Constables PLUS President of the United States, U. S. Senator (currently Sinema), U.S. House of Representative (CD 6, CD 7).

Join me. St Phillips Plaza on November 8, 2022. Back to work on November 9.
