LET’S BE GREAT
Jim Collins’ book “Good to Great” makes one thing clear; there is no magic strategy to move a good organization to a great organization. And I know some of you think that political organizations are not businesses and cannot be run like a business. Agree. The framework from good to great however is the same–business, social sector, government. Disciplined people who engage in disciplined thought and who take disciplined action–that is what we find in great organizations.
Disciplined People
Pima County Republican Party has about 800 Precinct Committeemen (PC). What should a disciplined PC be doing right now?
- Contact your 125 Republicans in your precinct
- Beginning March 7, get your Nomination Petition as an elected Precinct Committeeman and get the signatures. Due April 4.
- Contact the candidates in the Legislative District/Congressional District/Statewide and offer to get signatures, host a meet and greet, make phone calls, send texts.
- Join the War Room and contact opposition research.
- Contact your Independent/PND voters. Send them a postcard and explain how and why they should re-register as Republicans.
- Take the Pima County Republican Party training class for Poll Workers, Poll Observers. Be ready for August and November.
- Monitor the City of Tucson Council meetings and the Pima County Board of Supervisor meetings.
- Attend meetings where you can meet the candidates. Thursday, January 20, at St Phillips Plaza will be a great start!
Disciplined Thought
It was no mistake that the Pima County Attorney’s Office put out a report that stated there was no voter fraud the day before President Trump was coming to Pinal County. And it was no mistake that President Trump called out the fraud in Pima County elections! In disciplined thought we reject the OR and focus and AND. Do not be limiting in your thoughts; but spend time thinking. Our thoughts must be focused on the opponent–and, the opponent is the Democrats! What should we be doing right now?
- Consider the failures of the City Council, Board of Supervisors, Secretary of State, Superintendent of Instruction, Senator Kelly, the Biden Administration. Confront the brutal facts of the situation in Pima County. Ask yourself “why?” are we BLUE and “why?” aren’t we RED?
- Stay focused on the goal of electing Republicans. Always think of getting Republicans elected. Never lose faith.
- Get crystal clear on what you are passionate about. Determine what you can be best at. And what would drive success in the election.
- Become fanatical in making decisions that are best for the party.
Disciplined Action
This is not going to happen by next week. The Pima County Republican party is working on strategies for the long-term (10 years), a tactical strategy (3 years), and an operational strategy (1 year). It is a process, and we will continue to build momentum with each win that we capture. Look where we are so far:
- More PCs than the past 10 years
- Record-breaking annual fundraising
- Trunk and Tusk membership growing
- Record attendance at Legislative District meetings
- Largest Lincoln Day Dinner attendance in 25 years
- Increasing open-rates in weekly and bi-monthly communications
- Increased Republican representation in proposed Legislative District maps
