The Message
Jim and I went to a different church with some friends Sunday morning. Here was my take-away from the sermon:  The tribes that didn’t show up were never given the opportunity again. It was a particularly dark period for Israel under the oppression of King Jabin of Canaan. Here’s how it applies to us today:

  • They were very dark times, and the people were oppressed
  • They were outnumbered
  • Men and women worked together and realized the importance of working together
  • They believed they could win; they had faith
  • They showed up to do the work; some of the tribes did not show up to fight
  • It was a fight between good and evil
  • The right people were in the right place at the right time (read about Heber and Jael)
  • They WON

According to the Pastor, the tribes that did not show up—the objectors—never got a call up again. Throughout the sermon, I thought about you and me. I thought about our upcoming election and the similarities. We are being called into battle now. Our candidates need us; our party needs us to deliver a win.

The Ask
Figure out how you can work together throughout the next 92 days. We are going to have a unity rally on Wednesday evening, and it is just that—unity. It’s our opportunity to work together, for our candidates to build their teams, for us to learn about ballot initiatives—and how to stop them, to get ready to work the polls in November, and to put the past behind us.

Please thank all our candidates who ran for public office.  This was the most amazing campaign season. The voters spoke and now let’s defeat the Democrats. Join me. This will be fun.

And the Rest of the Story
After working together, man and woman, different tribes, there was peace within the land for 40 years.  That’s unity.  Let’s make that happen.
