YET
Is it possible that a Pima County Board of Supervisor, who was elected by the citizens of Pima County, is interested in charging unvaccinated people with murder? As Tucker Carlson so clearly articulated to Senator Ted Cruz on January 7, “–I don’t believe you used that phrase accidentally; I really don’t.” And I don’t believe that Supervisor Matt Heinz used “charging unvaccinated people with murder YET” accidentally either. BOS Heinz said:

“This is always a very frustrating subject for me…. It’s just incredibly distressing. Make no mistake, unvaccinated members of this community are actually killing people. Because they are not getting their heart bypass surgeries, because they are not able to get all sorts of procedures that are considered elective, but they are still medically and sometimes urgently necessary. So, um, it’s not like you can charge them with murder YET. It’s really important that we understand….”

YET (up until the present time) Is Supervisor Heinz foretelling the future that he and his party have planned for Pima County? Is his plan to begin to charge the unvaccinated with murder when our medical community fails their patients because of poor policy? Is our Board of Supervisors looking for an out because of their failed policies? Is Supervisor Heinz looking to hold in contempt for the act of deliberate disobedience anyone not vaccinated?

STILL
Couple this with the Biden administration’s qualifications based on “race or ethnicity” for monoclonal antibodies and we are beginning to see a pattern of division that Democrats will own when history tells the story of 2021. The strategy of division and rule has been around politics, sociology, and war for hundreds of years and yet Republicans seem to be falling for it STILL (up to and including the present). The City of Tucson, Pima County, and the Biden Administration have failed so miserably at their attempt to control Americans that they have resorted to divide and rule. To strip people of their liberty and freedoms, they must pit us against each other–divide them so they can be ruled. Using identity-based politics, vaccination-based inclusion, orientation-based acceptance and value-based decision making is pitting neighbor against neighbor and is what the Democrats have been doing for decades. Racist, homophobic, misogynist, trans bashing–these are the terms that we have allowed the Democrats to throw in emotionally-charged rants when we point out their failed policies and their ineffective programs.

STILL, we keep accepting it. STILL, we keep voting them in. STILL, we keep blaming each other.

NOW moving FORWARD
NOW (at this moment) we are at an inflection point. NOW we are poised to win. NOW there are opportunities.

FORWARD (time in advance; ahead) we will win. FORWARD we will stop the corruptness in government administration, elections, courts, legislatures and congress, media, and culture.

Pima County, YET where we are is not where we STILL need to be, as NOW is the time for us to move FORWARD and take back the City of Tucson, Pima County, maintain our legislature, state-wide offices, congressional and senate seats. Together we win; divide we lose. You decide: what is the real end goal?

Happy New Year, Pima County!

New Beginnings
This year is going to be an amazing year for Republicans! As we start 2022, we are looking at new beginnings for much of Pima County. Our Legislative Districts will be changing, and we will have new beginnings with PCs merging in new LDs, new LD leaders, new candidates and opportunities to change Pima County representation in Congress, the State Legislature, and many school boards. We will still have seven (7) Legislative Districts in Pima County and while the majority of the districts lean D, the predominantly Republican areas will be represented by Republican LDs. For our precincts that will fall into the Democrat districts, we will work to turn them RED.

Continued Success Moving Forward
The Pima County Republican Party has had many successes in 2021. From our communication strategy, fundraising, updated website, PC recruitment, Campaign School for candidates and teams, PC events, Lincoln Day Dinner, Coat Drive, PC training, E-Academy classes, Trunk and Tusk program redesign, volunteer recruitment, office relocation and staffing, Trunk and Tusk Border Tour, AZGOP ExCom border tour and quarterly meeting, redistricting meeting turnout, election integrity team organization, organizing for poll workers, observers, watchers for 2022, community clean-ups, and stopping the elimination of many precincts has all taken place in 2021. Hundreds of people throughout the Pima County Republican family have been involved in these events, and we are eternally grateful for all your hard work.

Getting Stronger for a New Decade
President Trump will be in Florence, AZ, on January 15. Pima County has demonstrated to Arizona and President Trump that we found many anomalies in the 2020 election, and we are going to work to ensure that 2022 is a fair election. We need HUNDREDS of volunteers to work the polls. Our candidates need CAMPAIGN WORKERS. We will be asking for your help on WORKING AT THE POLLS, assisting with DEBATES, sharing our message on SOCIAL MEDIA, knocking on DOORS, TEXTING our voters, PHONE BANKING, assisting with MAILERS, attending COMMUNITY EVENTS and REGISTERING VOTERS, and putting up SIGNS. If you have been waiting to get involved, wait no longer! Contact your Legislative District Chairman and let them know what you are interested in doing.

We must start by all of us becoming ELECTED PRECINCT COMMITTEMEN. Make sure you have a list of Republicans in your precinct whom you can call on to sign your petition. You will need 10 signatures. Your Legislative District Chairs will make the petition forms available for you.

Winning Elections in 2022
I believe when you divide the Independents to R or D, we are going to see that Pima County is starting to lean RED. We are no longer satisfied with identity politics from the Mayor’s office or mask and vaccine mandates from the Board of Supervisors. The representatives that we send to Phoenix will be representing larger portions of RED Pima County and will be working for us and the needs of Pima County. This is a new decade. We can change the direction; join me.

The Republican Party of Arizona was able to celebrate the holidays knowing that we would not be facing a decade of non-competitive districts, minimal margins in the legislature, and for Pima County we were able to have seven legislative districts with some or all of the districts in the county. The Independent Redistricting Commission stuck with their plan and delivered final maps to the state on December 22nd. Pima County will have a competitive R+2.37 Congressional District (District 6) and a solid D+35.42 Congressional District (District 7). District 7 is a majority-minority district in which the racial minority group or groups comprise a majority of the district’s total population.

Breaking it Down

The Legislative map 16.1 was adopted by 3 (2 Republicans + Independent Chairwoman) to 2 (Democrats). According to former Pima County Chairman Bill Beard, “Bottom line we’re looking at 13 solid R districts, 5 competitive districts (R+3.8, R+3.42, R+1.56, R+3.62 and D+2.6) with 12 solid D districts.” The clock started on December 22nd and now the 15 counties have 7 business days to review the maps and make technical corrections like splits in apartment complexes, etc. After the counties complete the assessment, the analysts from the IRC have 7 business days to produce the polarization data that is required to comply with the Voting Rights Act and the various legal details. On January 17, 2022, the IRC will reconvene and vote to affirm the technical changes to the final maps. This will begin the legal battle. Congratulations to Pima County Republicans for their tenacity and perseverance during the redistricting process. We did not allow the bastardization that took place in 2011.

While the redistricting process is not complete yet, it is in the hands of the IRC and our attorneys moving forward. The Pima County Republican Party is planning for the standing up of new districts and dissolution of the old districts. We will keep everyone posted moving forward.

Moving Onward
As 2022 begins, let us begin January with resolve to win elections, and reflect on what we can do better for Pima County. January was named for the two-faced Roman god, Janus, who looks forward for new beginnings as well as backward for reflection and resolution. The Romans would offer sacrifices to Janus and make promises of good behavior for the year ahead. While we are not in the business of making sacrifices to gods, I want to take a moment to recognize the sacrifice(s) that our volunteers, Legislative District Officers, Precinct Committeemen, our candidates and their teams, and your Executive Committee members have made and will continue to make as we work to win back our county, keep our state, and save our country. Your time, talents, and treasures are greatly appreciated; the Republican Party in Pima County is what it is because of you and all the work you do.

Resolutions
In 1947 a Gallup Poll was conducted to determine what people were going to do for a New Year’s Resolution. Number 1 was “Improve my disposition, be more understanding, control my temper”. It’s been a difficult 21 COVID months, and I suspect that some of the mandates, lockdowns, layoffs, deaths, illnesses, and chaos have left many of us weary. It has me. So, I have selected that resolution and am adding one more: consideration of people’s feelings when speaking. While we resolve for 2022, my commitment to building a strong team, fundraising for the party, supporting our candidates, increasing the Republican base in Pima County and winning elections in November of 2022 are my goals. As you reflect on 2021 and look forward to new beginnings in 2022, I hope you will make being a part of our strong Pima County Republican team one of your goals and you will work with us to win elections. ‘Twas the week before Christmas, when all through the county
The Democrats sat back, counting their bounty;
Our stockings are hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that the 2022 elections soon would be fair.
The Republicans are working, their lights glow at night,
For we know that November will be a glorious site;
For Kamala in her ‘kerchief, and Joe in his cap,
Fearing of COVID, have locked down for a long winter’s nap;
But out in the east there arose such a clatter,
Pima Republicans sprang into action to see what was the matter.
Away to EPOCH Times, Fox News, OAN and Newsmax,
We turned on our media to see yet another tax!
The polls tell the story, we know this to be true,
As the Republicans arise and bring back the red, white and blue.
As we watch in anticipation, what do we see,
Republicans growing strong as blue Congressmen flee.
When what to our wondering eyes did appear,
But strong Republican candidates and volunteers we hold dear.
We knew in a minute with this team we will win,
As we watch FAKE NEWS blounder, shout, yell and spin.
Let us not lose our focus and stick to our plan,
For we know this work cannot be done by just one man.
While he always dresses in a suit, G-Q head to toe,
His mind sharp and thoughtful, not like sleeping Joe.
Into the election season he will lead the way,
And Pima County Republicans will stand up and say,
2022 will be ours, we will take our country back on election day!
As Christmas draws close, know we have nothing to dread,
Be together with your family, and know we are ahead.
As we celebrate together, know winning is close in sight–

Santa’s Not Welcome
Our neighboring county, Yuma, is in trouble. Mayor Douglas Nicholls declared a state of emergency this week due to the soaring numbers of illegal immigrants flooding in from Mexico. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Yuma Sector agents apprehended 21,623 illegals in October alone. Many of the illegals are being released into the United States. Last Friday night, a group which included 33 Venezuelans, 15 Columbians, four Bangladeshis, three Romanians, and two Russian men were arrested. I am betting they weren’t vaccinated. However, Anthony Fauci says:
“When you get vaccinated, and you have a vaccinated group, and you are in an indoor setting, you can enjoy, as we have traditionally over the years, dinners and gatherings within the home with people who are vaccinated. And that’s the reason why people should, if they invite people over their home, essentially ask and maybe require that people show evidence that they are vaccinated, or give their honest and good faith word that they have been vaccinated.” Sorry Santa.

Democrats Aren’t Following the Science or the Constitution
Two problems here, Tony. Number 1: those folks crossing our borders illegally and getting released into the United States (right next door to us) aren’t vaccinated and you are letting them in for dinners and gatherings, and Number 2: 79% of those getting the Omicron variant are fully vaccinated, many with all three shots so what good is the vaccine doing?

But actually, Joe and Tony, there’s another problem. Even the Senate and the courts are not listening to you anymore because they realize how far off the rails you are. On Wednesday, the U.S. Senate blocked the COVID -19 vaccine mandate for the private sector. The Senate (along party lines with Manchin (D-WVA) and Tester (D-MT)) voted to pass a resolution of disapproval of the rule submitted by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). This mandate had already been put on hold after the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals rejected a challenge by the Biden Administration in early November.

Tucson and Pima County Don’t Care About Their Citizens
Meanwhile, Tucson is recognized as one of 12 major U.S. cities which have broken their annual homicide records in 2021. This has been a trend with increasing homicides year over year. So what does the Biden administration do? Appoint Tucson Police Chief Chris Magnus to head the U.S. Customs and Border Protection AND the Senate (50-47) confirmed this progressive and controversial candidate. His goal as Chief of CBP – “balance the enforcement of immigration laws and the humane treatment of migrants arriving at the southern border”. What about the humane treatment of U.S. citizens who are being subjected to COVID-19 and other diseases we are not immune to? What about us? What about our Border Patrol Agents? And their families?

In summary, Fauci wants to destroy family gatherings with support from the Democrat administration (White House, Senate, and House) while welcoming people crossing our borders illegally and spending hundreds of millions of dollars on their humane treatment by the CPB. And Mayor Romero, City Council and Board of Supervisors will open our city as a sanctuary for those seeking asylum. Follow the political trail; it leads to YOUR front door.

Republicans Need to Fight the Real Enemy, Not the Made up Ones
Pima County, we are in trouble. You can bet Mayor Romero will never declare a state of emergency–but, maybe we should tell her there is federal and state money if she does! Sheriff Chris Nanos supports the termination of 150 Pima County Corrections Officers. Matt Heinz, BOS is clear to the County Corrections Officers–“we don’t want you”. Get ready for Pima County catastrophic issues in the jails, the streets, the parks, the hospitals, and the schools. Continued crime. Increasing homicides. Unresponsive fire and police calls due to staffing shortages. ICU and bed shortages at hospitals due to reduced staffing.

Lies, Damned Lies, and Political Lies
The final hearing of the Independent Redistricting Commission (IRC) is over for this decade. Here’s a riddle for you from just one of the many incidents at the hearing:

What has two legs, long gray hair and when she finishes testifying before the IRC she turns away and walks down the aisle holding her hand in the air “flipping off” the Commissioners?

–A Democrat!
The Lies
This should not be a political process. The Democrats suggested that the Republicans worked with an incumbent, business leaders, and Republicans to create an LD 17 district that is a Republican district. And that’s not fair they say.

And the rest of the story, Tribal leaders, State Senators, Supervisors from the Pima County Board of Supervisors, and elected officials from Pima County received preferential treatment to speak before the IRC and speak to the maps they have submitted, the rationale for the maps, and the importance of why their community of interest (a group of people in a geographical area, such as a specific region or neighborhood, who have common political, social or economic interests) must not be separated. Each of these individuals who spoke are Democrats. Not political you say?

Damned Lies
Leaked emails, letters of support, phone calls—the palace intrigue continues. The Arizona Democratic Party contracts with Tony Cani of Slingshot Campaigns. Is this the same Tony Cani who was the Joe Biden Deputy Director in AZ, Campaign Manager for Phoenix Mayor Gallego, Senior Policy for Greg Stanton? Those jobs sound political. And the Democrats lay out their Timeline, Emails, Letters, and Demographic and Competitiveness Reports. This will become their foundation for a lawsuit if they don’t get their way in redistricting. They know they are losing, and they are getting ready for a court battle.

And the rest of the story, why hasn’t the Arizona Republican Party contracted with an opposition research firm to investigate and document the testimony from Senator Sally Gonzales, LD 3. She provided a map and testimony at the IRC hearing. She indicated that they would be changing her district to a rural district, and she didn’t like that. And how about the Pima County Board of Supervisors who spoke to the importance of Latino voters? Doesn’t the BoS represent all of us? Or the County Recorder who ensures free and fair elections? Why is she so worried about ensuring that the Native Americans are represented? What about Pima County? We are not contracting with anyone because we are winning.

Political Lies
It doesn’t have to be true, just say it repeatedly. If you were at the IRC meeting you knew what was going to be said within the first five seconds. LD 17 BAD; Reservations TOGETHER; Latinos must be REPRESENTED; Pima County is COMPETITIVE; Republicans GERRYMANDER. Just keep saying it over and over. It doesn’t have to be true. That’s what they are thinking.

And the rest of the story, it has worked for them. But we are stopping them. Political lies create the most intrigue—and the hardest fall from power and relevancy. Let’s take ‘em down. Join me.

Pope Francis said, “Advent is a journey toward the horizon of hope.” Hanukkah is a celebration of victory and miracles. On November 28, 2021, we begin the journey of hope in the Christian faith and the celebration of victory and miracles in the Jewish faith. We truly do have much to be grateful for in America, the land of the free and the home of the brave. We are a free people with hope in our hearts and victory on the horizon living in a world filled with miracles.

President Ronald Reagan said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”

Our party is stronger than it has been in a long time. Financially we have raised $123,000 since January; we have 775 Precinct Committeemen elected/appointed/pending appointment by the Board of Supervisors; we have stopped the Pima County Elections Department from reducing the number of precincts in the county; our training programs for PCs continue at the headquarters and the legislative districts; our Election Integrity Task Force is organizing around five categories to ensure fair elections; our communication strategy has become a model statewide; and, our programs have been adapted for success in other counties. Now we must join together and make our voices heard in support of a map that makes Pima County and the State of Arizona competitive.

Pima County has led the state in working to ensure fair and competitive redistricting at the Independent Redistricting Commission (IRC) meetings. And we are asking you once again to continue the fight. We need every Republican to show up (in red) and let the IRC know that Pima County will not accept the continued suppression of Republican representation in Phoenix and Washington DC. Additionally, we will not give in to marginalizing our communities of interest by “thinning” our strong RED communities throughout Pima County.

Pima County, we are strong and faithful that we will create legislative and congressional districts that will make Pima County competitive again. But, we need you. We need you to come to the meeting on Saturday. We need you to make a 2-minute presentation on your community of interest. If you are not comfortable with public speaking, please show your support by being there and demonstrating our strength in numbers and our determination to make Pima County competitive again. As we do every Sunday morning, Jim and I had breakfast with six long-time friends and good Republicans. We all agreed we are feeling a bit like we are living in an alternate reality. The craziness of the past 10 months seemed to have picked up speed exponentially with lies, misrepresentation, collusion, and betrayal. Americans, and others throughout the world, are watching the mainstream media (fake news) change the message, control the narrative, and gaslight the world. Consider some of the lies, deception, and collusion that are taking place:

  • The Build Back Better Act “is fiscally responsible. It reduces the deficit over the long-term. It’s fully paid for by making sure that the wealthiest Americans and biggest corporations begin to pay their fair share in federal taxes.” (Joe Biden) Yet, the Congressional Budget Office announced it would add $367 billion to the deficit by 2031.
  • The CEO of Project Veritas, James O’Keefe, had his home searched when federal authorities believed the president’s daughter’s diary was stolen. James O’Keefe said his group had received a diary last year from “tipsters” who claimed that it belonged to Ashley Biden, 30, the daughter of Joe and Jill Biden. This is a deeply troubling story and smacks of a political investigation and potential prosecution; another saga being created by lies and deception.
  • Middle school teachers in California are telling other teachers how to recruit students into LGBTQ clubs. The workshops and discussions at the California Teachers Association (CTA) conference billed as the “2021 LGBTQ+ Issues Conference, Beyond the Binary: Identity & Imagining Possibilities” appeared to show teachers how to undermine the authority of parents and school administrators and conceal activities related to gender inclusion and sexual orientation from them. Basically, how to recruit middle school children to the Gay-Straight Alliance Clubs. How to manipulate children by allowing access to their Google accounts and social media through school-issued equipment.
  • As Republicans cross the aisle in Congress to support this radical agenda of the far left, their betrayal to their constituents is disheartening. The 13 members of the House of Representatives and 9 Senators who are colluding with the Democrat party to move our country away from the Republic that our Founding Fathers created will be remembered in their next election. They must not win.

There’s a sense of concern, uneasiness in the country not just with the Republicans, but also with Independents and Democrats. We all held our breath while they handed the keys to Kamala this week. Did we really believe that it could be any worse? How is it that many Americans/Arizonans/Pima Countians can be so fooled by the lies and deception that is coming our way.

We all believe the truth will come to light. We must make sure we do our job as Precinct Committeemen and good Republicans to make our community aware. We will win this fight in 2022 and 2024. We will bring the truth to light. We will do it together. Join me.

If you Want it – Buy it Now!
Did you ever think you would see the day when 83 ships were waiting off the coast of California and it would be 17 days for them to unload?
The Biden administration is no stranger to a crisis, and now they have added another–the supply chain crisis.

As we enter into the holiday season, our shelves are bare, the prices are up, and there is no hope for change in the foreseeable future. As the hustle and bustle of the holiday season starts, many of us are surprised to see the shelves in our stores like we have never seen them before.

I grew up in Panama and I remember waiting for the ship to arrive with the Christmas trees. As a young child it was really a big deal. When the ship arrived in Coco Solo, we all headed down to purchase our Christmas trees. Not only the excitement of picking out your tree with your family, but also all your friends and their families were there. When my Mom and Dad moved to Panama they brought most of their ornaments and lights with them so it felt as American as it could living in Panama. These fond memories always come flooding back as the holidays begin. This year they feel a bit clouded with concern for our future.

But I wonder if I am the only one feeling a bit fearful about what is going on in the country. The border crisis, the supply-chain crisis, the debt crisis, the homeless crisis, the COVID crisis, the inflation crisis. Everything seems to have gone from a problem to a crisis and we have lost hope that our leadership can fix the crises. With 38% approval of Biden and 28% approval of Harris, I suspect that there are others who are fearful too. So, I have decided if I see something for my family for the holidays and I can afford it, I am going to buy it. This holiday season may not be the same as we are watching the incompetence of this administration losing control of our country.

Call me an optimist. The Christmas tree ship came into Coco Solo every year. I know that we will get our country back in line with the 2022 election of Republicans across the country. The red wave will bring in a Republican President in 2024, and we will stop worrying about crises and winning again. I am so happy to be a Republican. We win; and, we fight until we win. Join me.

The $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill the House approved should show all of us how Washington D.C. plays us. Pelosi knew she had the support of these 13 Republicans:

  • Chris Smith of New Jersey
  • Jefferson Van Drew of New Jersey

  • Anthony Gonzalez of Ohio
  • Don Young of Alaska
  • Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania
  • Adam Kinzinger of Illinois

and that allowed her to give a pass to her own party:

  • Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez of New York
  • Jamaal Bowman of New York
  • Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts
  • Cori Bush of Missouri
  • Ilhan Omar of Minnesota
  • Rashida Talib of Michigan

Republicans don’t get beat by Democrats; we get beat by Republicans! We get played from within our party. Whipping up votes is Politics 101, and Pelosi doesn’t make mistakes doing it. She knew she didn’t have the six votes of the SQUAD and her bill wouldn’t pass, but never fear, the Republicans are here! And sure enough, they fell for it.

You think that’s the only place we are being played? What about the power couple (and IMHO the next Democrat Presidential Candidate) Joe Manchin and his wife? Joe only holds out until he can get the next golden goose for the lovely Gayle Conelly Manchin, former president of the West Virginia Board of Education and currently serving as the Federal Co-Chair of the Appalachian Regional Commission. It’s a family thing.

And the government shows up when they are needed. For example, in New Jersey when 12,000 ballots were needed so Steve Sweeney could keep that State Senate seat. Edward Durr is learning quickly about getting played. Let’s see if the Republicans show up for the political newcomer or if they would rather stick with “what they know”.

Arizonans are no strangers to getting played. Remember July 28, 2017? When the six-term senator, John McCain, ceremoniously did a thumbs-down vote to halt the Republican party’s most promising effort to overturn a major Democrat achievement? Remember how every Republican candidate ran on the promise of overturning Obama Care? Did we make a mistake putting John McCain in Congress for 35 years?

Republicans seem to like to beat each other up; maybe those folks like losing. I don’t. I won’t. Stop getting played. You end up getting benched. Let’s get on the field and win. Join me, it’s time to win.
