Lincoln Day Dinner Win
This past week has been another amazing week in the life of Pima County Republicans. WE ARE WINNING! Our Lincoln Day Dinner (LDD) was a success on October 23, and on October 24 your LDD leadership team met and did a “hot wash” of the event and discussed what went well and what needs improvement. We look forward to providing Pima County with another even-more spectacular 2022 Lincoln Day Dinner.

Independent Redistricting Commission Win
Many of us ZOOMED on Tuesday about redistricting and discussed the maps. The Democrats were trying to make sure that Pima County Republicans continued to have another 10 years of little or no representation. The IRC voted on a map–LD Draft Map Version 10.0 that continues to give Pima County SEVEN districts. Coupled with the fact that we will continue with SEVEN Legislative Districts in Pima County, two of them Republican leaning districts—a first in 10 years! We don’t all feel like we got a good deal, and maybe you are still in a Democrat Legislative District or Congressional District. Remember, the county is winning, and the state is winning; with that we will all win. Get ready because we will be attending the next “listening tour” of the IRC. Stay tuned.

Winning Hearts and Minds
Jim and I had dinner with a couple and their six children (the children were amazing, well-mannered, and polite), a woman who attended the Lincoln Day Dinner and wanted to get more involved, and a mother from Sahuarita who was also interested in getting involved in the party. I know they signed up for E-Tracks, so let me say “thank you” for an awesome night. Come and join us—you will love the company! Two long-time friends also decided to change their registration from IND to REP this week—thanks guys, I know you will be glad you did.

Engaging to Win
Several of the Pima County State Committeemen attended Melanie Sturm’s ENGAGE TO WIN seminar/workshop in Scottsdale on Saturday which was hosted by Maricopa County and the Arizona Republican Party. We learned the importance of messaging. The takeaway for me was:

  • Start with common ground: use a WHY
  • Fight for people, not things
  • Frame your argument in compassion and fairness
  • Don’t make fact-filled declarative statements; ask questions so your audience owns their answers
  • Show you care. Use “I worry that/am concerned about…” to pivot to your argument

What a week Pima County—we are making a difference. Join me in turning Pima County RED again!

Our Speakers
Dr. Kelli Ward, Chairwoman of the Republican Party of Arizona, took the stage in her Republican red dress thanking the PCs for all their hard work and encouraging us to stay in the fight! All listened attentively as Sheriff Mark Dannels, Cochise County, provided data about the southwest border. The surge on the border tipped in January 2021, as the numbers have increased exponentially and the deaths in our desert are at an all-time high. Arizona Senate President Karen Fann told us the status of the audit. She talked about the referral to AG Mark Brnovich and how the AG’s office would begin the meticulous process of discovery and investigation into the audit findings. Congressman Andy Biggs shared with us some of the craziness taking place in Nancy Pelosi’s circus of Democrats and the criminal contempt referral to AG Garland. (On Sunday, Pelosi said Steve Bannon should be prosecuted and jailed for refusing to submit documents and testimony.) Congressman Biggs told us we looked “tense” in the audience and shared some fun stories about his work in the House of Representatives and as the Chairman of the Freedom Caucus. Steve Bannon took us back in history to the importance of Arizona during President Lincoln’s time. President Lincoln needed the rich gold mines, veins of silver and inexhaustible mines of copper in Arizona to help pay for the very costly Civil War. The discoveries of gold that could “be seen with the naked eye” helped push through Congress the Organic Act which called for a division of the New Mexico territory, and on February 24, 1863, President Lincoln signed the act creating the Arizona territory. President Lincoln and Congress were influenced by the need for precious metals to pay for the war. In 1863 the Pioneer Mining District was established in Central Arizona near present-day Prescott. This began the flood of immigrants to mine the precious metals in Arizona. Mr. Bannon suggested that while we often say we must fight for our children and grandchildren, we must consider the fight to preserve the Republic that our founders left us. He asked all the PCs to stand and reminded us that we are at the front of the fight. His message left many of our Lincoln Day Dinner guests motivated, many emotional, and all in the fight to keep our Republic.

Good Food, Good Friends, Good Messages
While COVID kept our Lincoln Day Dinner from happening in the traditional months of February or March, we enjoyed the opportunity for all 500 of us to be together and receive messages of hope and encouragement from our speakers. After the three-and-a-half hour event began to wind down, we all traveled back home remembering “A Republic, if you can keep it.”, a message from Benjamin Franklin to all of us. As Mr. Bannon started his keynote, he said “Elections have consequences”. Let us not forget that a republic is a form of government in which the people hold the power, but elect representatives to exercise that power. Are the representatives elected exercising the power that you elected them to do? We the people hold the power, they the representatives execute the policies. Are you happy with the way things are going? If not, please join me. We must keep our Republic.

2022 Election Issues

In a poll conducted by the Long Island University Steven S. Hornstein Center for Policy, Polling and Analysis, they determined that the economy and coronavirus were the top two issues going into the 2022 election. Healthcare and national security followed with Republicans being most concerned with #1 economy and #2 national security.

It’s Elections, Stupid!

Remember when they said “it’s about the economy, stupid!”  But, who will really care about the economy, healthcare, national security or even the coronavirus if we don’t have a free and fair election? Will it really matter if the economy is tanking if you don’t have a chance to put someone in office to make a difference? Healthcare and coronavirus go hand-and-hand for me. Biden is slowly introducing socialized medicine with the “free” jab and the “free” drive thru antibody testing facilities. And with coronavirus we are “power-grabbing” your freedoms and liberties and forcing a vaccine on U.S. citizens. Notice that illegal immigrants still get to choose to vax or not. And why isn’t Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer mandating the vaccine for Congress and their staff? Let us also not forget that OSHA regulations do not apply to Congress either, so Congress has figured a way around getting the jab as well.

President Trump has called for a canvas of Pima County. In our September 27 issue of E-Tracks, we called for an audit of Pima County. If we go and knock on a door and the occupant says “Bill and Jane Smith?, No, they don’t live here anymore.  We are John and Jill Jones.” That’s good information, but we can’t go to the Recorder’s Office and say “We just stopped by 123 Coronado Street and the Smiths don’t live there anymore, the Jones do.” Guess what, the Recorder’s office can’t do a thing. It’s the voter that has to make the change. It’s the voter that has to register–again, good information but it’s time to audit the processes, machines, and the voter rolls–not just a canvas.

Elections Right Now–We Need You!

There are two elections that will take place in Pima County on November 2 and we need POLL OBSERVERS.  Can we count on you?  Please volunteer.

Let’s fight for clean, free, and fair elections in Pima County, Arizona, and across the country.  Join me.
Shelley’s Note:  The methodology for the poll is unscientific and the sample selection is not representative.

The Stockdale Paradox
“You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end—which you can never afford to lose—with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.” — Admiral James Stockdale.

We Will Prevail
The Stockdale Paradox was made famous in Jim Colin’s bestselling book Good to Great published in October 2001. Admiral James B. Stockdale was shot down September 9, 1965, over Viet Nam and wound up in the Hoa Lo Prison (the infamous Hanoi Hilton) where he spent the next 7 years. In preparing for his book, Collins asked him about the personal characteristics of prisoners who did not make it out of the camps. Admiral Stockdale replied, “the optimists”. They were the ones who always believed they would be getting out soon. When the days kept ticking by, they died of a broken heart. You see, they lost sight that they would prevail in the end.

The Most Brutal Facts
Admiral Stockdale knew that you must have the “discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be”. What are the brutal facts in Pima County?

  • Pima County has seven Legislative Districts within its boundaries. Of the 21 potential Legislators, only seven are Republicans—only 1/3; and only one of them lives in Pima County.
  • Of our Pima County elected officials, we only have two: Supervisor Christy and Treasurer Ford, and we are grateful for their commitment and support to Pima County.
  • Of the 1,595 allotted Precinct Committeemen spots, we have approximately 700 PCs elected or appointed.
  • We are facing redistricting and will likely lose one if not two Legislative Districts.
  • We have Republicans who believe they must “take over” the party.
  • We have groups splintering off from the Republican Party because they don’t feel their voices are being heard.
  • We have a Democrat President, Senate, and House
  • We have a 5D – 4R House of Representatives in Arizona
  • Our two U.S. Senators are Democrats
  • Our Arizona Senate and House are Republican majorities of one

Those are the brutal facts for Republicans in Pima County. Fellow Republicans, the Democrats are your fight. Look what they have done to your County, your State, and the United States of America. The fight is with them, not with your fellow Republicans. Somebody’s blood doesn’t bleed RED enough for you? Ask yourself if you can agree with them 80%-90% of the time, and then move on to win elections against Democrats because, I promise, you won’t agree with them at all.

We will prevail in the end. The Pima County Republican Party has the discipline to confront the brutal facts and move forward. “It’s difficult balancing optimism and realism, intuition and planning, faith and fact. But that’s what it takes to be effective.” (John C. Maxwell) And we will be effective. Join us.

The United States military leadership sat before the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives last week and answered questions about the failed exit strategy of Afghanistan. There was one line of questioning that really stood out for me. When General Milley was questioned about whether or not he thought that Afghanistan would fall as quickly as it did into the hands of the Taliban, he said he did not. Really? When the military saw how quickly the other territories fell after the U.S. military withdrew, he didn’t think that would continue to happen? We won’t know, but what we do know is that at the same time that those provinces were falling into the hands of the Taliban within days of U.S. military exit, he was testifying before the House of Representatives about being “woke.” View here.

To our active duty military and veterans, we will remember those 20 years encompassing Operation Enduring Freedom (October 2001-December 2014) and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel (January 2015-August 30, 2021). Operation Enduring Freedom suffered with total military deaths of 2,349, of which 1,845 were “hostile” actions. The Army lost 1,328 Soldiers, the Navy lost 85 Sailors, the Marines lost 378, and the Air Force lost 54 Airmen. Of the 504 non-hostile deaths, 22% were by suicide. There were 20,149 wounded. The highest fatalities were E1-E4 (1,121), and 85% of them identified as white. Operation Freedom’s Sentinel saw 77 hostile action deaths which included the 13 service members killed at the Kabul airport in August 2021. Of the 30 non-hostile deaths, nearly half of the Army deaths were suicide. Total fatalities in Operation Freedom’s Sentinel was 107 with 604 wounded. The statistics prior to the Kabul attack show the rank most affected was E5-E9, with 71% identified as white. U.S. contractor fatalities are estimated at 3,850, and NATO service members at 1,144. General Milley, if you want to understand “white rage,” you should speak with the families of your fallen service members.

The U.S. military trained and outfitted an estimated 66,000 Afghan police and soldiers. The majority of them have been killed since they took over the fighting in 2015. Up until 2015, it is estimated that 21,000 Afghans had perished in the fighting. Exact figures will never be known.

We are grateful for the service of our military. To the Afghans who fought by your side, we will keep them in our thoughts. While the Biden Administration attempts to stifle the voices of our military members, the Republican Party will fight for a strong defense led by strong men and women who know the sacrifice, understand the fight, and support our troops. We will elect a President in 2024 who will support you, love you and your families, and ensure the strength of America on the world stage once again.

Join me as we fight to make America strong again.

“If we don’t think about the past, you’ll never win again in the future.”
Donald J. Trump. September 25, 2021, Perry, GA

At a rally in Perry, Georgia, on September 25th, President Trump spoke about the Arizona audit. He spoke about the ballots received outside of Maricopa (23,344), the duplicates (17,322), voters in multiple counties (10,342), duplicates received after election day (4,330), ballots with no signature (1,919), deceased voters (282), deleted files and compromised routers (see VIDEO). Arizona spent over 100,000 staff hours processing 2.1 million ballots by hand. There is an unprecedented number of discrepancies in the vote total. There is a draft report that states “the election should not be certified, and the reported results are not reliable.” The final report does NOT state that. My take-aways from the 3-hour hearings are: (1) Joe Biden won the state of Arizona if you count ONLY the ballots, (2) because the envelopes and the ballots are separated, there is no way to remove the ballots that were found to be duplicates/irregular/deceased votes and recalculate the vote count, (3) based on #2, it is possible that President Trump could have overcome the approximate 11,000 vote deficit, but we will never know, (4) someone was messing around with the machines, and (5) there was some potentially illegal activity in Maricopa County Elections. Now that may sound simple to you, but there was a lot of data there and this is how I wrapped my head around it. I concluded with these thoughts: thank you Senate President Karen Fann for not giving up; AG Brnovich you have some work to do; and Arizona 54th Legislature, you need to step up and fix these discrepancies. As Chairman, I will be reorganizing our Election Integrity Task Force with a new vision and mission to move forward. Additionally, there is no reason to believe that Maricopa County is unique. Finally, I believe an audit of Pima County should be conducted.

We had a win last week at the Pima County Board of Supervisors (BoS). Precinct realignment was voted down. A special thank you to Supervisor Steve Christy (District 4) for his support in this initiative. We did however, lose a Judicial District which has a significant impact on a “minority majority” in the County—Republicans. We will continue to work on that moving forward. We are preparing for the Independent Redistricting Commission meeting on Wednesday, September 29 (see below) and look forward to seeing all of you there. This is a big week for us—moving to our new office, IRC, Sidekick Training, Citizen Lobbyist Training, National Voter Registration Day—and we need all hands on deck. Beginning October 6 we will need to start chasing City of Tucson election ballots to make sure all Republican ballots are returned. If you are a PCINO (Precinct Committeeman in Name Only) you will need to get involved or move aside. We are in the campaign season with amazing candidates from U.S. Senate on down the ballot. The party must be working together to win. If you are interested in winning, join me.

Creature Culture
When did “we the people” become “the bureaucrats recommend?” When President Trump campaigned for office and while in office he talked about “the swamp.” It didn’t take long for people to understand just how vast the swamp is; the swamp runs far and deep. The swamp is not just the “fake media,” which has carried the torch for the Democrats for years, it is also the “fourth branch of government”—the government agency employees who believe they know what’s best, the non-profits and community organizations that live off the peoples’ taxes through grants, the political hacks who work behind the scenes and create dossiers against opponents, and the judges who have been appointed to implement policy—not rule on law. There was a time when the swamp creatures were advisors to our elected officials; they provided options for consideration. Somewhere along the way, the creatures have created a culture where they are the rulers, the decision makers, and they report to no one. “We the people” are now controlled by bureaucrats, whom we didn’t elect, can’t fire, don’t evaluate, and many times don’t even know!

Creatures of the federal swamp
Leading the list today is Dr. Anthony Stephen Fauci, Director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984. He has single-handedly thrown the United States into a state of fear and chaos. Never elected, but allowed to write policy that dictates the lives of we the people.

He is followed closely by General Mark A. Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the principal military advisor to the President, Secretary of Defense, and National Security Council. We are always grateful for the service of our military members, and so we are grateful to General Milley’s 40 years of military service. We will not, however, tolerate unelected officials undermining the civilian leadership and the Commander in Chief.

Throughout the Department of Health and Human Services, we add to the list Dr. Rochelle Paula Walensky, Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The flip-flopping of policy guidance and recommendations have closed our schools, shuttered our businesses, left our citizens unemployed, and threatened to rip away medical freedoms.

And, always follow the money. Kristalina Georgieva, former World Bank CEO and now head of the International Monetary Fund, pushed staff at the World Bank to inflate China data. She now heads an organization where the United States provides funding to the tune of $150B a year.

Arizona may be dry, but we have a swamp
Many would call them “activists” when they come together on an initiative, but if they are receiving federal funding through grants then they are working with “we the people” tax money to push their initiative. They are using OUR tax dollars to promote initiatives that we may oppose.

The “We are Home Celebration” will kick off with neighborhood outreach by Pima County Justice for All. This group is collecting signatures for an initiative which would change the Pima County code to allow access to a public defender for indigent residents facing deportation or detention. It needs to collect 75,000 signatures by next July to make it onto the November 2022 ballot.

These groups that receive federal, state, local grants are involved in this initiative; Planned Parenthood Advocates of Arizona, Tucson Jobs with Justice, LUCHA — Living United for Change in Arizona, Arizona Center for Empowerment, Corazón Arizona, and Care in Action US, are receiving funding to set policy that you will vote on. Be aware, follow the money, there’s a plan.

Join me; keep watch.

September 13, 2021

Joe Biden, Katie Hobbs, Regina Romero, and Chuck Huckleberry and his four followers (Scott, Heinz, Bronson, Grijalva) can throw all the issues they want at the Pima County Republican Party, but we are going to keep on fighting them one-by-one. The state of the union, the state of the county, and the state of the city are not good. If you are reading this, you have most likely chosen to live in Pima County and are probably well- aware of our rising crime rates, increased homelessness, shuttered businesses, local government’s attempt to meddle in our personal and private lives, inability to attract and retain law enforcement and first responders, failing roads and infrastructure, failing schools, and lost jobs. And now we are adding county bureaucrats’ interest in gerrymandering our political parties and denying county citizens access to justice. Here are just a few reasons why, if you are a PND/IND and lean right, it’s time to LEAN IN—change your registration and get involved with the party that can and will make the difference. If you are a Republican, please join us in the fight.

United States

  • Americans being left behind in Afghanistan (See below)
  • Government forcing businesses to meddle in your personal and private healthcare decisions. Ronald Klain, White House COS said, “OSHA doing this vax mandate as an emergency workplace safety rule is the ultimate work-around for the Federal govt to require vaccinations.” The Biden administration is weaponizing the federal workforce against the U.S. citizens
  • CDC changes the definition of VACCINE
    • Old Definition: Vaccine: A product that stimulates a person’s immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease, protecting the person from that disease. Vaccines are usually administered through needle injections but can also be administered by mouth or sprayed into the nose.
    • New Definition: Vaccine: A preparation that is used to stimulate the body’s immune response against diseases. Vaccines are usually administered through needle injections, but some can be administered by mouth or sprayed into the nose.

Read very carefully, from ” to produce immunity” to “stimulate the body’s immune response”.  It may or may not work!

 Arizona

 Pima County

  • Department of Elections pushing to create mega-precincts significantly reducing the number of polling locations in Pima County. Huge impact on District 1 (Marana/Oro Valley)
  • Pima County bureaucrats recommending the elimination of a Judicial/Constable District in Pima County reducing the peoples’ access to justice. Pay attention Vail/Green Valley/Corona de Tucson!

 City of Tucson

Sound like doom and gloom? It would be if you didn’t have such a mighty minority party (the Grand Old Party Republicans) working for you in Pima County. We are on all these issues and more.  Join us.

September 6, 2021

Has Pima County lost its way? While I am a believer in America First, I have to step back for a minute and think PIMA FIRST. Our bureaucrats in Pima County are directing applicants to receive COVID-19 vaccinations as a condition of employment in Pima County while they are flooding our community with asylum seekers (AKA illegal aliens) who are COVID positive. And if your pockets are not empty enough, Pima County is contracting with Jot Properties, LLC, headquartered in Northridge, CA, for Hotel Shelter Services for COVID Positive Asylum Seekers at a contract award amount of $2,008,000. Money aside, the bigger issue is that the contract is for 4 months with four 6 month renewal options. Not concerned enough yet? It also has a clause that includes “the authority for the Procurement Director to issue an Amendment to this contract to add additional hotel locations.” So we have one entire hotel dedicated to COVID positive illegals for at least 4 months, possibly 2.5 years; an option to seek other hotels to add more COVID positive illegals by our Board of Supervisors without a vote of the public; and this also includes all the medical expenses necessary for the COVID positive asylum seekers. It is estimated that 25% of those crossing our borders illegally are COVID positive.

Republicans believe in following the rule of law, and that may be where it gets difficult for us to align with our democrat leaders in Tucson and Pima County. While we support LEGAL immigration, we recognize the challenges to our systems that the illegal immigration is creating. While we fight against crime in our streets and cities, they “defund the police.” We see what homeless and destitute people of our city are experiencing, and we volunteer and work to bring hope to our community. While we demand our freedoms, we see the democrat bureaucrats and elected officials using power grabs to deny freedom and to control people. We are witnessing the disregard for the Governor’s Executive Orders that our elected officials are exhibiting in our school boards, our City Council, and our Board of Supervisors. September 29 is coming soon. Are the democrat electeds and bureaucrats going to continue this lawlessness and disregard for the rule of law? Are they going to continue to divide the country and destroy our businesses?

On September 11, 2001, I lived just outside Washington D.C. We all remember where we were on that day. But September 12 was the day that we saw all Americans, all races, all religions, all ages, all genders, all political parties come together for the United States. Twenty years later we have been so divided you can only believe it is intentional. As the democrats have removed the United States flag from many of their meetings, conferences, and events, we can only wonder what they will stand for on September 11, 2021. Or will they take a knee? I choose to stand with the United States of America, so I will stand with my Republican brothers and sisters and continue to fight for freedom and liberty. We won’t stop, we won’t quit, we won’t fear. And WE will not be divided.

August 30, 2021

“A man can fail many times, but…”

How is it that Joe Biden could bring a country to its knees in such a short time? So much is written about leadership, but this quote from John Burroughs nails it: “A man can fail many times, but he isn’t a failure until he begins to blame somebody else.” Joe Biden and his administration have failed; they have blamed everyone but themselves. The democrats have failed in the Presidency, Senate, and House of Representatives—yet they blame everyone but themselves. Biden, Pelosi and Schumer are failing the American people with their failed policies and feckless leadership. We must stop these failed elected officials. We must make changes. We must work to put Republican leadership back in the Presidency, the Senate, the House, City of Tucson and Pima County.

“…there seemed to be no hope at all.”

Dale Carnegie said, “Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.” For me, our freedom and liberty are most important, and I will succeed at changing the leadership of our city, county, and country in order to keep our Republic. There are over 650 Republican Precinct Committeemen in Pima County. It’s time. There is something for every one of you to do. Contact your 125 voters. Write articles for E-Pulse. Attend your LD meetings. Attend trainings at our HQ. Meet other PCs for coffee; build your relationships. Volunteer at the HQ. Hold a voter registration. Read the Federalist Papers on our website under ABOUT. Recruit new PCs. Mentor a new PC. Volunteer for a campaign.

“…your emergency brake is on.”

It’s time to release the emergency brake. We need to move at a speed that makes people pay attention. “You can’t expect to move forward if your emergency brake is on.”  I think Angela Cecilia has a message for us—RELEASE THE BRAKE. There are about 3,000 of you who receive this E-Tracks. As soon as you finish reading it—1) post it on your social media, 2) forward it to your contacts, 3) decide what you are going to do to be involved. We must fight to keep our freedoms to

  • Ensure competitive Congressional and Legislative districts throughout the state
    (IRC)
  • Maintain our precincts in Pima County–no changes by Pima County Elections to increase precinct size (see below)
  • Stop government overreach by bureaucratic agencies (CDC)
  • Vote down a new layer of City of Tucson bureaucracy veiled in a $15/hour minimum wage initiative (See article in E-Pulse)
  • Stop the socialist overreach of the City of Tucson and Pima County demanding city and county workers to vax up
  • Stop our school districts from mandating masks and vaccinations
  • Support our first responders against forced vaccination
  • Educate our children in reading, writing, and arithmetic not race, diversity, and inclusion
  • Procure medications such as Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine and not allow government to determine your treatment
  • Protect our citizens who are fearing for their health, safety, and religious freedom
  • Assist our businesses in fighting against government control and takeover
  • Elect our Republican candidates
  • Free Pima County from the socialist policies of the City and County democrats

“…but we can’t do anything.”

And to our elected leaders in Washington DC and to our candidates… To our candidates, you need our votes. We will be there for you, and we expect you to be there for us. If you say it between now and November 2022, be prepared to do it in January 2023. To our elected leaders in Washington, we sent Republicans with President Donald J. Trump in 2016 to stop government overreach, end Obamacare, rebuild the infrastructure, and Make America Great Again. You didn’t do it. It’s easy to be in the minority party, but remember, failure is when you blame somebody else. You may fail, but you MUST try. Don’t blame the democrats if you didn’t try. We cannot tolerate another thumbs down vote.

Release your emergency brake. Join me. Our freedom and liberty are most important, and we will succeed.
